Zane’s 80′s flashback

He wasn’t even around in the 80′s, but his dedication to gratuitous boob and butt shots is commendable.

Brianna Cope

Watermans’ Brianna Cope, 16,  represents a rising tide of younger athletes ready to take on the older guard.  This Kauai native was rated the top NSSA Explorer women’s competitor at 15, models for Roxy and looks up to Alana Blanchard.  She is definitely one to watch for years to come.

Chuck Patterson GoPro shots

The guy from Dana Point who shot video of the shark last summer with his trusty GoPro put it to more traditional use during some fun waves the other day.   If he’s proven one thing over the years it is that no one has fun quite like Chuck Patterson.

The question is…

IMG_0632

Dustin is already there… for now.

If you could go somewhere, anywhere in the world, at this very moment where would it be?  Would the water be warm, cold or just right?  Would your before and after be spent in the company of friends or in peaceful solitude?  Would you drink beer, wine or simply water?

Of course the real question is… why aren’t you there yet?  It doesn’t even have to be a physical location, a destination can be a metaphor for any milestone in life, because what really matters is the journey.

Comment below and let us know what you’ve set your mind to for 2011.

If Kelly Slater taught us anything over the last twenty years it is simply that he is unique.  How else can one explain ten world titles spread out over 17 years of continual progression?    Regardless, surfing culture became the culture of Kelly Slater.   Surfers around the globe wore what he wore, rode what he rode and aspired to his every move.  Somewhere along the way, every one of us failed to notice that the same approach didn’t do squat for 100+ of the world best competitive surfers as they attempted to dethrone the king.  Yet we soldiered on, (more…)
